![]() I could wait until 2014/15 for Apple to release Broadwell with the MacBook Pro, but I'd hate to waste a year and instead not get a Haswell-based laptop if there isn't that much significant about Broadwell.Īpparently Broadwell is a major change in terms of the CPU itself as they are getting closer to a physical limit of CPU architecture (quantum tunnelling or something like that, but I'm afraid I am not a fan of physics). Some people tell me to wait for Broadwell, while other people say that it's the usual CPU and GFX increases + power consumption reductions and it's nothing special to be waiting for. Part of the push by Intel for the ultrabooks initiative. Massive decrease in battery life consumption. The intel GPUs only share memory for system processes, for games and other user processes its typically capped at either 243mb of GDDR3 VRAM or 535MB of GDDR3 VRAM. ![]() Massive increase in graphical performance with the Intel 5000 series(?). ![]() Performance increases as expected with a new refresh but not phenomenal. Increase but not substantial for CPU power. To summarise what I know (which may be incorrect): Click to expand. Why is it not worth waiting for another year? Currently I know the benefits of waiting for both Ivy Bridge and Haswell but nothing about Broadwell.
